Sketch Up Tips
Shadows
Apply shadows to better detailed the depth of the building materials.
Windows
Adding windows, giving them a plane and giving it a translucent color aids the viewer to see how the hand model will relatively look.
Water
Adding water to your design will give it a more abstract meaning than just a boring building.
Grass
Grass gives it a look that the building is actually sitting down on the ground and not floating on a meaningless spectrum.
